Home Instead Senior Care Enhances Security with Phoniro Door Locks from ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions

West Florida-based Senior Care franchises enter into pilot program to ensure client security, safety, and peace of mind.

Stockholm – April 16, 2019 – Home Instead Senior Care franchises in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Hernando County, Florida, have opted to test digital locking technology from Phoniro, a Swedish company, across its facilities to improve users’ experience while enhancing security and safety at its properties. The testing of these solutions are expected to be implemented this spring in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Hernando.

With the Phoniro Lock, homeowners no longer have to risk their security by leaving a key out or hidden under the doormat. With the electronic lock, caregivers can digitally enter the home via an app installed on their smartphone. The app is protected by the highest level of security, through an IT platform known as Phoniro Care. In addition to greater security, the solution also generates a time stamp when the caregiver enters and exits the home. This feature records when and for how long the caregiver was on the premises.

“Client safety is a priority at Home Instead Senior Care, and this new technology will allow us to give reassurance to both our seniors and their family members—who may live 1,000 miles away—that the door isn’t left unlocked and that the key under the mat does not fall into the wrong hands,” said John Murphy, owner at Home Instead Senior Care of Pasco County, Florida.

Additionally, the lock is not visible from the outside, and homeowners and their relatives can still use the physical key. It is aesthetically pleasing and easy to install and remove without any damage on the door or lock. The electronic lock will not interfere with any other security solutions that the client may have.

“We are pleased to bring the Phoniro Integrated Technology Platform to the United States Home Care Market,” said Stephenie Haldane, vice president, senior care at ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions. “This platform offers much more than enhanced safety and security to our seniors; it also provides an opportunity for care collaboration within healthcare and better care outcomes.”

Phoniro locks are installed on more than 110,000 doors globally and used by over 200 public and private home care organizations.
